Garden Irrigation – Bishops Stortford

– Garden Irrigation –

This larger project needed a multi zone irrigation system installed. Breaking the garden into zones ensures adequate water pressure is maintained, especially for the lawn sprinklers. Having multiple zones also allows varying watering durations to be set for different planting areas around the garden. Some areas experience full sun, others partially shaded during the day.

Having multiple zones also allows varying watering durations to be set for different planting areas around the garden. Some areas experience full sun, others partially shaded during the day.

Because the mains water pressure at this property is so low, a large irrigation water tank was installed. This fills overnight while the demand from the house is at its lowest. We fitted a water pump to draw from this tank to two submerged valve boxes located at each end of the garden.

We created a network of buried irrigation pipework, hidden under the lawn. The Hunter controller manages turning on the water pump and directing the supply to the various zones around the garden in turn.

The Hunter controller monitors the weather conditions via the internet and makes smart alterations to the amount of water that it supplies to the various zones. This ensures only just enough water is supplied where required around the garden. If there is likely to be rain or it has just rained then no irrigation will take place.
